On the homefront

So how have you been?

We are all fine..we just got our family back haha! By that I mean we are now back to the 7 of us, plus mom and dad in law of course. For the past week or so we've had our nieces and nephews stay with us and it's been fun but loud! we had my brother in law's 3 daughters and my brother's 2 sons! (and his daughter too!) - we loved the noise and the chaos but I must say it's nice to have peace and quiet too!

Mom and dad in law are here , dad's left thigh is cast in plaster, doc said it was an alternative to surgery . Surgery would be better (he had torn tendon) but since he had 3 stents in his heart placed in 2007, it would be risky for him to have anaesthesia. I was there with him, and the doc was dithering aloud whether or not to put him under the knife or not..the lawyer (or rather, the old woman ) in me interrupted and said:  so, - unsafe? Is there an alternative? There is? Ok let's do that then.

So that was how Abah got his plaster- doc praying that in about 3 or  4 weeks time, his torn tendon will decide to reunite hehehe..in the meantime, it's been hmm about 10 days, and he has progressed from sitting down and not moving much, to going here and there on his stick. with his cast.

My mom in law lah I kesian..she is such an active person kan..suddenly enforced rest like this...she even said she was going to drive back with him at the back! My sis in law from HK pulak coming  home this 21st. I don't know what to advise also. Absolutely he needs to stay still. But kesian pulak sebab hati nak balik kan.

Trying my best to be good daughter in law. But they are so independent, and are always refusing my offer of coffee etc as they'd get themselves coffee...Wondering whether have hurt their feelings in some way ..intentionally or not! Different personalities, kan. Anyway this is 20 years into our marriage. and you marry the in laws too actually kan. (tau tak Lana Nordin hahahaha)

We had a family gathering 2 nights ago- sara's birthday! She turned 16! She wanted to have a private dinner at home and we made roast chicken, and rice with all the dishes as well! The 5 roast chicken were my effort with the girls! Everyone was in the kitchen (some had to be called many times) Sophia made the cake - yumm! I hope Sara had a good time! All my brothers were there and my sis in law said I lost weight! Woohooo! My aunties on mom's side and my husband's aunties on mom's side also were there. Riuh gak..everyone left about 12.

Ok ta...yang  bercuti, have a good break! We 're staying put this year..because of abah ..but will try to take the kids out somewhere ..they want theme park je!

Hellow

Sooo...

Abah and mak have arrived ..but!
No need operation..!
The bone doc has looked at the MRI results and declared that MAYBE Abah can get away with no op. All he needs is to have some fluid drained from his knee....(sounds totally yucky)

Huzzah!

mak is of course the happiest eheheheh..

On another matter, my brother's maid has run away. This is the 50 something woman who has only one eye working. The day before found an SMS apparently from her daughter which accused mom and family of starving her. Heheh the fattest starving person ever! Mom and sis in law called her and asked her flat out whether she wants to work. Yes she said. And the next morning, disappeared. Aiyoo..

She has probably gone to join her daughter, who also ran away from the employer. Hope she is safe! And hope she realises what a cushy job she had, although not many friends money and safety was secured.

On the homefront- took 6 kids to swim yesterday. Had fun ! My parents came just as I was about to go out so we invited them as well. Had tea by the pool. Our rezeki, there was a function which had just finished and the manager very kindly gave us some of the kueh from that function and the satay! Im sure this has nothing to do with us asking eh cant we take them? heheheh tak malu tol.

Anyway y eah the kids had fun and then they all demanded Macdownald which they wolfed down..pas tu naik atas and tengok tv sampai lah malam. Ni I just peeked, Kim Possible still on. ISSHHHH!!

Ok time to go to my meeting! Bye you all!

Come come support Nadine!

And here is the latest update...

Dad in law fell the day we were in Kota Bharu, did I tell you that? And mom in law was in thailand at that time. I called bro in law, who said that he just bruised his thighs and the clinic said there were tissues torn that's all. That was about 10 days ago

2 nights ago they arrived . Hubs had a look at the knee. After tekan tekan, he pronounced that abah needed surgery. . Off they went to have a second opinion. Correctomundo, memang have to repair. It's not torn tissues, it is (am now flipping back to the whatsapp message he sent sat) ahem!!: He has ruptured his left quadriceps tendon and will be operated to repair this friday.

I think they were astonished that it is this serious, and not just bruised. How wrong did the clinic get the diagnosis! Never mind, at least he will be treated. I was mulling over how important it is to have insurance for when we are older - although someone told me that the insurance expires when we need it most- at age 70!

Mom and dad in law though, when they heard about the operation, promptly left our house hehehe ..they went back home for a while! Errands to run etc. Dad in law with wonky knee and all. I was on my errands for work when I got a call from Nadine to say that dad and mom have left and she was with them.

I was (a) shocked and then (b) relieved Nadine was with them and (c) sad that Nadine is gone huwaaaaaa...:) Yeah, kinda miss the kids when they go , like the other day they went camping in KL for 2 days and then PD for another 2 days.

I fetched them from the KL camp and they slept at home and then we sent them to the KL camp the next morning (very late) for them to catch the bus to go to PD. Totally embarrassing them to be the last ones on the bus. Hey my defence was we were back from KB and the house was empty and we missed them and had we not done that we would not see them for a whole WEEK! Gasp!! ahahahah..ok I dont know what I would do when they go overseas (if)!

Anyway yeah my dad is going through the same thing..his kids were not around last weekend and boy was he upset. We were at home on Sunday actually but the kids had just come back the day before and for some reason everyone just did not have any energy to move. Everyone just lounged about....malas malas. There were 4 ppl in our bed. And daddy included.! And the father slept for so long, and me too! We must have been more tired than we thought! badan dah tua kan...

Actually it's nice to have a house full of kids . Provided you have someone to help you lah! The day mak and abah in law came the Maid was on leave and stayed away overnight. Today I have 2 extra girls ie my husband's nieces. Yesterday I went to their house to say hi to them and also fetched them to thehouse. They are Jojo and Daya's age. And I've also called my nephews over as well, my brother's kids. As well as my husband's sister's kids. Aiyoo when they all come in, I better have activities man! heheh how about erecting a tent outside? That would be exciting tak? Hmm where to get a tent big enough for 10 kids And should the maid sleep outside also?

A friend of mine bawak anak anak dia pi Istana Negara...maybe I will do the same!
Ok tata for now....take care yew...

Day 2 in KB

Hmm I would LIKE to report that I went to see the palaces and stuff..but my slothness prevailed and all I did was stay in the room, prayed zohor and asar, and then went to the attached mall and bought stuff for the girls. they are forever growing out of their clothes  and I found them long sleeve blouses yay!

Anyway yeah, came home at about 5 with a headache and stayed in with room service (what is a holiday without one) , and the other half came back soon after.

Hope that today I can see KB but it does not look like it, since have to work pulak. A good thing Im still here in the room, tak keluar lagi...Kalau tengah berhurray hurray kat Pasar Siti Khatijah camana lah nak refer to computer. Maybe I should go and BRING the laptop. Which is the saddest thing I can think of. Or maybe I should just switch off the phone

Update later.

Actually teringin kopok lah pulak.

A jakun* in Kota Bharu!

[*- over excited? You think, with the travels that i've done, I'd be blase right...wron - this post is to show how much of a jakun I still am! ]

Anyway Hi folks! Today I'm going to do something I haven't done in ages!

I'm going sightseing on my own!!

Yay! Im also going to- gasp! shop! by myself!

hehehe I usually don't like shopping. That's because normally I hate crowds, and I have other things I'd rather be doing- facing the laptop included. Vegging out with family. watching telly.Anythin. The idea of browsing mindlessly and trying things out do not usually appeal to me- so my attitude to shopping has been - Dash in, look around, find, buy, dash out- and if I can't do that..say because I'm with the other half who is a secret shopaholic- I'd sit in coffeehouse and drink coffee ahhhhh...while husband continues to shop!

But today! I'm relishing the idea!

The difference is- I have the time for it! Lots of time! Forget you , docs ! Just for today! And there are no kids! (missing you loads, children,  and thank you mom and dad and bro and wife for minding them. Yes, again)

I am here in Kota Bharu following the other half - he has work examining at XXX until Tuesday. Nak itot!  I wanted to bring the entire brood but was SHOCKED to find that the flights were all fully booked..! I checked in the morning- still had seats, wanted to ask husband if we can all go and what time to book- by the time he got to me (bolehlah if you want he said) , and I checked online again- FULL! I had to book via MAS hotline- and I got a very nice guy called Shamsul to help me. Cracked lots of jokes - me lah. not him. him all professional. I told him to find me seats- berdiri pun takpa lah dik! Sadly, I could only get one extra ticket- for me! And  no business class - not that we usually travel business class, but Mr Husband got one, and for free too and I thought it'd be nice if I can waste some money and sit together. No such luck, all out ! By the way Business class to Kota Bharu--- serious extravagance ah. I told him to tell his organisers, save your dough next time !  ...sampai bukan awal lagi daripada economy seats pun.- it's not like you arrive any earlier! Plus, the MAS people kindly gave me a seat next to window and first row after BC so leg room banyak- so space wise no difference ....although I SMELT PIE!!! ohhh you guys got to eat yaa..we all dapat peanuts je (MAS, can replace with healtier option tak?? Kuaci pun ok!)  ...hooo hooo..but never mind, was v comfortable ---next to window, some more! Thank you Mr Shamsul the MAS guy! (he assigned seat to other half- in the last row in BC -- he said, to be near me. Ha?? that, i laughed at. why Mr Shamsul? not like we can chat through the curtain pun! hehehe. I was happy enough that he got me a window seat!)

Although I nearly didn't you know!By the time I got on the plane, there was a couple who was there, and the wife was in my window seat. They both looked up blankly at me when I smiled and said "sorry, that's my seat?"(why do I have to start with sorry, and why did I have to ask? sigh)  . And they said oh is this your seat? I'm thinking - YA THINK? you mean you didn't get the boarding pass with your seat number? They just smiled back at me. I smiled back. Some mental telepathy was going on between us - I imagine her thinking.." you're not seriously going to make me change seats are you, you fat woman? Next time board earlier lah! "

It was all I could do to NOT say- never mind, I'll just sit here (aisle seat) and I felt seriously petty and mean as I continued to stand and beam stupidly (but determinedly ok) while they finally decided I was serious and started  about changing their seats. hehehehehe.. I got my seat yay! It's not often I travel by meself , hokay, and If I can't be holding on to the other half as we fly (chewah macam apa he he) I'd like to stare at clouds and think of God's creations, thank you! I'm still dazed that I stood up for it. I'm such a wootz normally. Loved the journey and the changing clouds as day became night..although next time Imma going to tell them to turn the dang music off. And for the pilot to practice landing more.

Anyway yeah! Got booked in at the renaissance! A pleasant surprise.  Had thought that the standard would be only so - so..but so far have been impressed! no complaints! Truly five star. Breakfast was good too! Good spread-  nasi dagang, beko and akok (shhh dont tell my diet consultants) and also they served tomato juice, very hard to get outside KL! And the housekeeping girl got us the toothbrushes (always forgotten by us) in record time! And she managed to laugh and giggle daintily about it as the other half went to answer the door! (she's just being friendly, he grinned) .

The organisers took us to Yati Ayam Percik last night ..delicious! I tried to play the demure wife, as I wasn't supposed to come along anyway...so should be unobtrusive lah kan..tak jadik lah.  Borak borak sampai malam. And ate CHICKEN SKIN yummmm..and ayam percik! (of course). And the long missed Akok. Satisfying or what. So sweet though things,  need to adjust.

Okaylah today Imma going to pretend Im a matsalleh and go see the PALACE ! the Museum too! What? Pasar Siti Khatijah you say? heheheh we shall see. Wonder if you need to have a passport to go to Golok?

Diet ke Laut

I hate you Kitchenguardian... why lah your food so sedap.

Yesterday your husband came to work bearing that "mixed cupcake" that you made. He had bought it for the office. Offered me one. Wargh. Lemahnye will power ku...I took the salted caramel ..which was yummy. Banana cupcake with salted caramel topping I think. Then later...I TOOK ANOTHER ONE! The creamcheese and red velvet one..Mula mula I licked the cream je. then I baham the cake too! Yummy. I didn't even bother to take it out of its casing, bit into it instead punyalah lapar. Then I thought never mind lah, I am not having lunch today kan..THEN my clients came and we ate at Floracafe! lontong- laksajohor- cucur - icecream....

Sigh,..diet ke laut lah nih...

But seriously if you have never  had anything from Kitchenguardian- what are you waiting for? Very delisioso!

On another subject, there is this deepavali do coming up tomorrow kat my BNI. Husband pi costume shop carikkan something for Daya, I kirimkan lah baju satu for me. Daya ada ehem..halloween themed birthday party this Saturday and has been nagging (yes daya you have) us to take her to the costume shop. All we have been hearing this past 2 weeks are Naruto, Kunai, Naruto, Kunai, mummy can I order online. She is very determined is my Daya, once she gets her heart set  on something. Otherwise she is noncommittal. she is the one who , when I said I will let her go to XX place this coming month, came over and had written out an AGREEMENT for me to sign (I , Mummy, has agreed to let Daya go xxx)..Sigh

As for my other 2 girls at home , Sophia and Sara, are doing well. Sara is having a birthday this December. Sara told me she is very girly ..you are, lah Sara. The girliest of them all. the one who likes lipgloss etc. And actually so is Sophia. Come to think of it, so is Daya. Daya packs her stuff according to the day she is going to wear them, and down to tudung, pin, etc. Sophia shares my taste in clothes and borrows mine anyway. Sara is very trendy I worry about you Sara cause you are very pretty and Im sure ramai peminat kan...Although I know you are a good girl. Actually I think it's ok to have a boy friend. Boy friend. Not boyfriend. But of course within limits lah kan. I would LIKE to let you have high heeled shoes but the idea of making you look older than you are , scares me.  U know I think you are still 3. Yeah I know your cousin has them. but you know what I think of my brother's er indulging nature of his only daughter. I am the only daughter too. A right bratt dulu.

Ok lah I have to go early if I want to tumpang the other half. He is examining in another university today. 3 hari. so the private sector tutup sekejap. Aponak buek berhati rakyat. So he said if I want to tumpang kena pi awal. Ok lah, sebab nak borak in the car holding hands punya pasai...I kenalah babai kat youuuu

Babai!!!

Tuesday update!

The problem about not writing every day is, you forget what you have written about.

For example, did I already tell you about the Nuskin diet I am on? If I am, ignore the next section ok:

[It's called The-right-approach and gosh darn it, it's working , yew! You eat a mixture of supplements designed to boost your metabolic rate/reduce your fat intake etc. In 2 months I have lost about 3 kg which is a  big deal, ESPECIALLY considering that in these 1 and 1/2 months I have NOT said no to cakes/custards/durians/milo etc. Are you kidding me? Life is there to be enjoyed right..although when I think about it, I am only sabotaging myself...since it's so expensive I should really be more strict about it. (RM4,800 hokey, although they take easy payment phew!). I have another 2 weeks to reduce another 2 kg. My target (and the target set for me) is another 6 kg-- Actually I have to be strict because I get weighed every other week - pressure woah. These 3 people (my "upline" although he prefers the word business partner, HIS upline, a huge girl herself (who has lost a heck of a lot of weight (seriously , she is BIG) and is continuing to be losing weight under this programme) and her husband- They come and weigh me internally and externally. Eg body fat /visceral fat. The first time I got weighed, because I had been reporting what I eat to them almost daily, they kind of expected me to FAIL big time...and when they saw that I lost inches, they were oohing and ahhing at my amazing result! Tak tau lah kalau temberang kan hehehehe...nak jual minyak lahkatakan..hehe Actually I am glad that I took this programme, dah sakit belakang, sakit kaki...I didn't think I could actually lose the weight...kalau tak bayar tak da motivation nak lose weight kot! ]

And that, ladies and gentlemen is the secret. Motivation. Kalau ada motivation, takyah diet mahal mahal pun ok.  Kan??

Ok moving on, we're lepakking at home today. Husband has been so mega busy since Depavali, weekend etc..working non stop. Today pun kerja. Dad and mom popped over, miffed as my siblings and I don't go and see him. Sigh..annoyed pun ada, sebab we all bz kan  and we JUST saw him the other day. My brothers pun just had dinner with him last Sunday.

Last Sunday the car broke down again. sigh..it's a lovely car, but unfortunately due to its age, manja sikit. It's 10 years old. Lovely to drive, once serviced. We ran into a HUGE hole while going to a wedding , but I don't think that's  it. because we could drive on what...After the wedding we went to my friend's house for a reunion, and then we were driving back. It was only when we were driving that we felt something was amiss. Ok ok "we" tu , me lah.Husband insisted it was ok. I drive the car, I tak tau teknikal nyer. I do know however, how the car is supposed to feel like and sound like. And it did not sound right. So we stopped.Right on Guthrie corridor. I went out the door and WOI! The front tyre on passenger side berasap you! Smoking! We called AAM. Alamak! Expired membership ! Tu lah, tak prihatin...! Soon though, the Guthrie people came over and diagnosed it to be a brake yang melekat. Need to be towed to the nearest mechanic. I called AAM again and asked them to assist to call a mechanic who can do that. Ala. selama ni I bukan dapat service free pun from AAM, kalau bab tow tow nih kan... so macam biasa lar.

The only thing was, it was Deepavali. Most mechanics were closed. We waited and waited, finally one guy called- he was called by AAM . Huzzah!! he asked for directions. he called adalah 3 kali..aiyoo...sesat lah pulak. In the meantime my cousin called me- he spotted us standing on the roadside. Could he pick us up, he said? I said oi kena jaga kereta lar....

Anyway yeah I was worried that cars might hit us, so mula mula I stood jauh from the car. ..There was a motorbike lane, so I stood kat belakang situ. But dah kena gigit nyamuk bagai, I jumped back into the car. Ada aircond kan..Yeah scary gak, cause the car trembled everytime a big truck or lorry passed by.

Finally lah this INDIAN(!) guy came with a huge tow truck. Off we go...and from the positive aspect...nasib baik gak lah ada tow truck as my husband was too sleepy to drive..the moment he got it it was SNORE CITY.

Dropped the car to the mechanic near my house. (NOT in glenmarie ok, nanti bila lak nak ambik)

The car is ok now. My pocket is not though. Sigh..cubaaan

So that was (some ) of our weekend. Kaifa kanatal Utlak for you? (how was your weekend?)

The weekend that was

What?? Another weekend passed?? What happened lah??

The long awaited "recognition day and hi tea" for Johan's Year 6 of Adni finally took place last Saturday pm.. I was on jitters ! This event was organised by the mommies of Year 6 and helped  by the teachers.  A whatsapp group was set  up and I was soon privy to the mad organising that went on. There were the invitation cards to print, the cupcakes/carrotcakes door gifts to make/give, the printing, the pressies for the students and the teachers (apparently the teachers requested?! heheh) The venue and the most important part- the moolah!Close to RM20,000 ok ! Sponsorship were sought and amazingly obtained! Amazing to me because someone actually sponsored a standard 6 non event , of a private school. Hehehehe. I absolutely thought we were going over the top. Baru darjah 6 lah oi! But the parents had fun and were good at organising so biarler..support lah! I applaud their efforts because the whole event went well. The teachers were happy and felt appreciated. The moms and dads were happy . The food was good (lemon chicken, tiger prawn!) . The kids?? I asked one of them how it was- he said BOSAN! (Boring!) Sheeeshhhhhh...kids. And this was supposed to be their day.hehehehe

Finally met the mom and dad of Jojo's bff Amirool . I was sitting there chatting with him when I suddenly thought- eh, his parents were sure to be here? I'm always seeing him alone in the house, not used to seing his parents. I turned around and there they were, waiting for me to say hi! The mom and dad are very nice and I extended the open invitation to have Amirool over . Turned out they were in a fix about where to put Amirool next week because they were going away and amirool has a school trip (which Johan is not going to voluntarily) and when he comes back they would still be away. I offered to house him lah! Apa lah.. but it's nice that they asked.

Yeah Johan has a school trip to Langkawi changed to Melaka. He didn't even bother to tell me because the 4 girls before him were not allowed to travel on a bus before the age of 13. Even though I don't really mind him going because (a) it's only to Melaka and (b) it's in Melaka. hehehe.

So that was Saturday sorted. Sunday pulak- we have finally gotten off our bums to do Arabic. And forcing ourselves to do work beforehand means we enjoy it more. The kids are good . mom and dad- not so much.

Another thing I forced myself to do was to go to KLCC to shop. No kidding. I do not like to shop. So this is me- go in, go to Isetan, go to get Johan's clothes , pay, go out. The end. Johan dah takda baju langsung, all short or tight. And his pyjamas- the MAID asked me to buy new ones as the ones he has are old and faded. So I bought 6 pairs I think. Ha kau.

The maid is back to normal HUZZAH!!! She is now cooking , cleaning etc. And I feel soo relieved. Must have a maid because otherwise I turn into a dragon. I was peering into every nook and cranny when I was doing things myself. I cleaned the fridge and the freezer.  I swept madly. I love housework! If I don't have other things to do lah! I cooked! So yeah, glad I can pass the baton. But I think the time for her to do things unsupervised is over. Ada hikmahnyer dia tak sehat..i now realise what I want her to do and what she has not been doing, or doing in a way I do not like. For eg. I want her to wash her clothes separately from us. Diva ke? No , cause respect lah the boss right ha ha..!

Ok lah...babaii guys...take care....I am still having back pain nih...but can run lah actually..dah terpikir nak buat ZUMBA..hehehehe

ta!

Oh what a day!

Wow...cars have feelings y'all!!

I had the most tiring day today.

I was driving to see a client in the morning , in Kota damansara. Already I was annoyed as this client "just" wanted to see me. Aiyosh...k lah..then as I was driving I heard that flap flap flap sound coming from under my feet. We've heard this sound before , actually, on the way back from Kluang over raya haji- and I even know why we are hearing this sound- because the car got mad at us. I was toying with the idea of selling this car a few days ago...a sure fire invitation for something to go wrong hehehe..Ok ok I know , this is all rubbish...pure coincidence kan kan kan?

But anyway the further I go , the louder the sound was, and the slower I went...nak patah balik, already on the way...so by the time I got to the client's office basically I was a nervous wreck. What were the odds- the office was in front of a mechanic. Seriously. I teruus drove the car there. Parked and said - there's this flap flap sound, please have  a look. It helped that there was no parking around!

2 hours later, I went back to get the car. Prepared to separate with some hundreds of bucks for whatever had fallen off (I was sure). The car was cranked up and I could see its tummy. The  indian guy (Sathiah) who by the way had SUCH a chinese dvd seller accent (and if you close your eyes you'd swear blind that he was chinese) showed me that the driver shaft (like I know what it is lah kan) was loose and had been knocking against some other thingabob. And even got scratches gouged in certain places. And look look ! even leaking seriously!

2 hour job, please, he said. Leave the car. . Ok ..I have no time to wait so how ? Some more this is like totally far from my office, my home, everywhere. Have to go to office, then have to go to my first meeting as president of the bNI (bangganya) to discuss plans for the group for the next 6 months ... he promised by tomorrow. He asked me- can I drive a manual car? he was going to LEND me a car. Ok lah. yes I can drive  a manual car- 30 years ago! When I learnt to drive!

Anyway I said yes. I was given this beat up bone dry no petrol proton . How I managed not to choke is amazing. the pedals were smooth and slippery. I had to take off my shoes to drive otherwise I could not grip the clutch. I had to deal with the clutch, gear and accelerator again! At the same time trying to find a petrol station, all this against the crazy detours around KDamansara. Finally found Shell ! The very kind indian /bangladeshi filled the car up  and I don't know why I felt the need to explain that this beat up car was not mine Oh NO! Am I a snob already! And I'm not even datin sri  datin sri ! hahaha! Once the car had some fuel I could relax a bit.

Boy it was difficult to drive a manual in the traffic man...I abandoned the plan to go to the office and went straight to my next appointment at Solaris dutamas..I had no intention to go find parking, and was thinking of valeting the car. Bad luck, all the usual spots were taken! And the cars lining up the valet spots were all posh posh cars! Finally found one last spot..and I parked , thanking god with every breath . The jockey came and said to me- it's 15 ringgit tau kak? (It's RM15 you know  ma'am)

eh of course lah I know--! Never mind RM15, RM50 oso can! See the leg lah kan hehhehehe- no kidding! But you know what I mean?? he assumed I had parked wrongly since it was a beat up old SAGA. Or maybe he didn't but I was ultra sensitive.

Balik from the place (I also had training at Futurefit(previously Concept 1010)  ) it was raining!! cats and dogs! So not only did I have to deal with playing with the gears and clutch until my toes and foot were numb, I had to deal with the blurry vision and the dubious windows of the car (and the wiper seem to be introducing more dirt rather than give better vision). it got to the point when I was praying for a jam, so that I can free the gear and pull the handbrake and rest my poor footsie!

Ok ok have I gotten you guys sick with my diva ness? It's not diva, more like panic and total terror ahahaha! But soon got the hang of it thank Allah* (*as in, Lord of all the worlds , pagan or otherwise, not to be confused with Jesus/Buddha/others) and reached home..

Oh yeah, my training was done in my full work clothes you know! I ingat dah tak jadik dah..but the trainer said ok! Kelakar nye...(this is my face nak mengangkat bendatu) - lenguh nyer sendi

The mechanic called later btw..dari RM1,300 jadi RM3,800. semua nya salah, semua bocor. So I said tunggu dulu, call the other half .Other half lak. tak angkat phone. rupanya had 12 hour operation- WOW! And when he came back home finally I asked- he said buat je lah...but I think not lah kot..this is an untried and untested mechanic..when I have Srivani in the BNi group-  who owns Sitt Autocare in Brickfields. Might as well bawak kat dia je...I kenal dia sapa right??

Ok i can't sleep.(It's 3.20 am) Donno what I am worried about, Worried I am though! Too exhausted maybe? the maid is still out of action, by the way. Sick.  moping about. Her legs now hurt. From having a high fever on friday, to being declared as having viral infection by GP (I brought her yesterday) to being able to sit up and talk to her friends today, she has been  unwell, and Nothing is being done in the house. Actually I told her to completely rest. She's not a robot kan. She was crying I want to go home...I'd rather die at home..I told her - eh I also demam (fever) but never thought to die one..And after 1 year you want to go home just because you fell sick? Aiyoo no stamina..what about all the extra money you were going to make? Can pay for this, can pay for that..right?

Sigh...so I have effectively been maidless for about 4 days. I know, such a short time..but I am ready to throw in the towel hahaha. It should be ok but then the dirty clothes are piling up like you would not believe! I had to call in Fatima, emergency cleaner service! (she is the filipina who cleans neighbours house for RM15 per  hour) - She mopped the entire house. So well, in fact that if budget permits I will call her every week. I mean, Siti can attend to everything else. and do mopping every day as per normal, but Fatimah can do the extremely thorough cleaning that Siti will not do one.

I 've been cooking and the kids help out. Yes, this should be the way but it IS rather tiring kan? And housework is ALL I can think of, you know. Now my head is full of wanting to clear the fridge. I hope my helper gets better soon. I hope she wants to get better. I  mean, I know she is feeling better, that's for sure, but I am suspecting that she is a little bit milking it. I mean, I get her breakfast, and  get her water atas dasar kesian , as she was unwell- so I myself would be totally taking advantage if I was her hehehehehe ! Tak baik kan I ? Takda, I came home, penat and asked her how she was, and she told me she felt better except her legs were aching..and her face all tired and lifeless- when I had actually  seen her looking quite animated already when sms her friend. hahahaha! Kantoi lah you.

Must say though that I like this maid , she is more ikhlas (genuine) than the others I think, and she knows we trust her (cause we never learn our lessons, you say? Yah!) Like, i told her, to completely rest and sleep. and when I come home rushing to cook, she has already cooked rice for me. And I had put some clothes (like 10% ) into washing machine to wash and I come home, it's taken out of the machine, washed,So basically adalah perasaan responsible sikit kan..I do tell her to rest.

Tadi she said she was feeling much better but her legs were killing her and can I cal someone over to urut her legs ?(massage her legs?) In fact, she had called a friend who told her of another friend who can massage her (amboi dah baik lah tu dah main phone) . And maybe I can drive her there ? I told the other half this, and he , with his operation 12 hour on his feet, and me, with my 5 hour trauma with the gear and the clutch and the window not working in the poton both thought- WE are the ones who need the massage ! hahahaha!

eh ok lah I better try to get some shut eye...

Sigh....have a great day ahead, guys...!

So that was our weekend!

heyy...

Where has the time gone???  So many I wanted to share. To tell you the truth I have been blogging in  my mind. Everytime something happens I blog about it, pity it's not automatically transferred to the laptop! Haha..! Penuh blog ni!

Anyway yeah, we sent Nadine last night. It's become a routine, on Friday she comes home. on Sunday she goes back. She has to do this  because she only packs for one week, rupanya! One day I picked her up on Saturday , she said she didn't have any clean clothes left! I finally told her to start washing small items laaah..apa lah anak dara I ni.

Last Friday I picked her up myself , although usually the other half does it. Other half's schedule was so mad last 2 weeks that I told him I will give him a letter excusing him from seeing patients if that works Ahaks!! What to do, kita fofular...hahahaha, no sometimes it works that way..

Anyway Her dad was sooooo bz that he was still at the hospital at about 10 pm and Nadine called and said she can't go out after 11 which then spurred me into action. I don't like to drive, as a rule. Especially at night! I took Sophia to accompany me.

BUT! I can finally cross one thing I had ALWAYS wanted to do, off my to do list. Which is- to help someone stuck in the Touch n Go line! This was at the subang toll. I was no 3 in the queue. This white car was waving and waving his /her card. Last last she reverses..AIYOOO..Aku dah lah nak balik. Without thinking further , I jumped out and skipped over (hahaha all 68kg of me skipping) to the car. This is against the background of my 2 daughters (nadine and sophia) squealing NOO MUMMY!! It seemed that Sophia actually hid her face and lowered herself down .I reached her and asked "is there something wrong with your card?" (duh, obvious question much?). And by the way where was the Toll guy to help? She said (young chinese lady) - It can't work! (Ya don't say!!)

So heroine me waved MY card and after 2 waves (risau gak coz it didn't work also first time), the bar lifted HURRAY! And I skipped back to my car. If I wanted to be unseen and low profile, the orange scarf, the stripy purple and blue pants and the mismatched pink blouse basically threw THAT idea out of the window.

The funny thing was the Alfa Romeo behind her pun opened his door..a malay macho guy who now probably wanted to help= hehehe too late mate!

I went back to the car and the kids were still squealing, torn between proud and totally meltingintothecar type of embarrassed.

Anyway yeah, that was Friday.

Saturday!

Saturday am I decided to go for my facial. Nadine nak pergi halaqah so off we went first ..I have to fetch her back at 12.30. Sara has  a reunion  at 12.30 at the Museum of Textiles. I tak suka sangat Sara pergi reunion- for what? And reunion darjah 6! And her friend's brother driving! I don't feel safe to let her go. Anyway I rasa terpaksa say yes. So off I go for my facial.

At 12.30 I called Nadine, with myface full of muck , and asked her to take a cab back. I had called the cab company (alaah, kat Melawati je) and told them specifically to get my daughter and send her home. Nadine called later to say she was still waiting. I tried to call the cab company and no one answered. Nadine tried and someone hung up on her. NOT NICE , mate!

Last last the host sent her  home (thank you) . One daughter sorted. One daughter pu lak , Sara, I told  her to ask the same friend to send her home. She said ok. Then I went  home after facial. The plan was to get all of them to Pavillion to wash eyes hahaha after Nadine and sara and possibly daddy, had all come home. However although Nadine was home , daddy was MIA and Sara called to say that she needed to be fetched. Unfortunately I ngantuk and had dozed off at that time, and didn't notice her call or text until about 4 pm and then I scrambled to get her..grumbling all the while, cause didn't know how to get there, didn't like havin to go out again to drive, didn't like her friends changing their plans like that, didn't like my daughter waiting by herself GRRR. Used waze which , usually accurate, let me down big time that afternoon, telling me "You have reached your destination" when I was in the middle of the road. ARGH.

Finally got her, and went home again. She thought we were going shoppng but not without the others, dear! So balik laaa...

we didn't go out again in the end! waited and waited for daddy...who ended up coming home at 9! pm! I said heck it, let's dress up for dinner! Maid pulak demam panas..so she rested and we piled her with meds and water and food and ordered her to sleep. I cooked beef stroganoff with steamed veg and roast potatoes and also garlic bread. The girls helped take out the best china, and cutlery etc. and we all dressed up and put make up ahhaha. Bapak dia balik finally and we all ate..and I actually tension giler with the dad but somehow tak sampai hatilaaah nak marah...Although honey you CAN say no you know.

That was my saturday! Sunday...lepak  missed Arabic class ! Malam makan at mom's house ...and sent nadine home...

Ok lah! Better go and do subuh prayers now! Babaiiii

update no 1

Guys

my daughter told me this blog is dead. my other daughter told me  that too.

no...don't worry..not by a long shot..I will still pen my boring life for you to read hahaha

been a bit busy...

But what's been happening then...

Daya is taller than me, did you know that? My brother no 3 who just came back from the UK after 1 year doing his Masters, shrieked in mock horror yesterday when he saw Dahlia, who had grown taller than him! Never mind that he has taken after my dad who is , shall we say, vertically challenged.

It was really good to see my baby brother and wife again..they came back the night before last , and yesterday we had dinner with mom and dad, and the entire family was for the first time in one year, complete.. well, except for Nadine. She was still in college. We brought food to mom's house, for a change we were the earliest there, with my brothers and families trailing in later..expressing shock to find me in the kitchen! eh I have you know that when I didn't work, I used to cook all the time ok and bake too!  Cheh these adek beradek...so insolent ha ha!

Mom and dad are fine, we are not going to see them as often as they would like - WHICH I WILL RECTIFY! okay okay! sebok laa mom...but we do speak often. Most of the time mom will call me at my busiest time at the office hahahaha..I will try to speak properly but most of the time kinda distracted.

One blight in the horizon- my husband's former vice chancellor is in hospital now suffering from the big C. He's done everything and tried everything and now it's not working and he's basically just being made comfortable. Everyone is expecting him to pass on but his spirit is so strong that he is still hanging on. However he is suffering, and this is not nice to see. I have not been allowed to go visit (!) but I think about him a lot.. how it would be for us nanti, and how sorry I feel for him, because he is still so alert and conscious and therefore he feels every pain, every hour that passes. I just spoke to one ustazah just now and she said to read this one surah Ar' Rad , and pray that if he is meant to go, please make it easy, but if he is meant to stay, please get better.

end of morbid stuff

Sorry..! Ustazah and I talked this over after daya's recognition day..which I attended just now. Daya complained because we did not stay for the pizza which she helped pay for.

It's been a flurry of recognition awards for the kids these last week or so. Never mnd that there are final exams round the corner. that goes to Update 2 ok!

nadine more settled in college now. comes back every week, and friday comes so fast these days!

We had a hectic weekend gak lah = took the kids out to dinner on Saturday, and then on sunday brother no 2 took us all out to dinner. I said that we should have this family get together once a month at least. everyone is so bz but everyone lives in KL. No reason not to get in touch but time flies so fast you dont realise that it's been a week since we last spoke to mom, for eg.

Kids are growing up way way too fast. the girls are teenagers with hormones, the other day one cried because I hurt her feelings. I remember Sophia dulu pun ada kata mummy you hurt my feelings....moral of the story, dont hurt their feelings...cakap apa pun kena jaga...sensitif

I dah start this Nuskin diet thing...3 months of makan pills and diet plan and urgh..so far so good- 3 days baru but im not throwing up so kira ok lah.

ok lah talk to you later ye....

Saturday morning

SATURDAY

It's such a nice hot day outside. the sun is shining, the skies are clear blue and cloudless, the trees are still and green,  and the husband is home and he's saying how wrong it feels to be sitting inside the room with such a nice day

he said that, 5 mins ago. Now he's snoring. Yeah, it's a  nice day but it's also a HOT day lah ..better to be inside in the room with the aircond on...and the tv on...and perut sudah kenyang. And me in front of the pc lah surfin the net.

Saturday morning meant to be lazyyyyyyy

Sunday musing- sorry slight religious leanings

Today I uploaded some pics of us going to Arabic class. Bukan nak menunjuk but to motivate ourselves so we can keep going! Sebab lama dah stop! My kids told me mom the book that the teacher gave us, we learnt in Std 4. I said, then why you still merangkak? The teacher refused to speak English to us, despite being very fluent in English.

When we started it was just the other half and me, then we thought why not get the entire family involved. You should see their faces. Apart from Nadine , this has not been well received by the family. Ni kes paksaan ok...hehehe. Pasang niat betul betul...we are learning so we can understand the Quran..ni baca takpaham ni, sampai bila ni. betul tak??  Also we can order in Arabic! yay!

[religious snippet ahead!] Anyway how have you been this past week? Busy? I wanted to tell you about this American guy Nouman Ali Khan , who was flown in to give a talk in Malaysia for the first time. He's a young chap, from Texas (from Pakistan originally) and his passion is to get us all to understand the Quran, then we can really understand this religion we were born in. Then NO ONE can justify that man marrying, and raping brutally until death , his 8 year old bride !!  Which is a horrible act no matter how you dice it!! Please lah stop oh old men, and please lah stop selling your children..please lah carik benda lain yang nak follow ... Sigh...the Zakat element of islam, and how a divine being has laid out a whole framework for social justice and system..tak pulak masuk paper....

Anyway yes. Nouman Ali Khan's talk.  wow got concert atmosphere, with us both macam excited and keep telling ourselves .-- straighten your intention! Not for the personality but for God.! But the personality is really approachable lah. He drove home to you that if you believe you are a Muslim you believe (a) you are a slave. (b) Allah is the master (c) Quran is the word from the Master (d) understand the Quran lah cause its for all mankind. You know what... Selama ni I dont think we truly believe that we are slaves. Kalau tak why so hard to go and pray. Betul tak.  Do we really get the concept of us being totally totally at His mercy? Ie if He says you will be ill, or well, this will happen. I don't think we really really understand on the deepest level... otherwise sure we won't be corrupt. arrogant etc etc .

WAHDUH!!  Macam religious pulak...met my exroom-mates in KPP recently and one of them said I am now more religious. Soo not. I try. but am so weak. Still want to read about what perez hilton says hahahaha

anyway it was fun meeting up with them. Masih riuh macam dulu walhal semua dah over 40 ..closer to 50 by next year! The personalities have not changed. Do people change you think? I am less bothered about what people think

AHAKS! So not true! I keep terkucil kat wassap group..ashik tertake it the wrong way and terasa je ...heheh so Im staying away for a short while! Kadang kadang orang bergurau...kita tak paham. So baik diam..Karang aku mengaum karang..heheheh. How about your experience with FB . twitter etc and whatsapp? Ada tak tersalah paham? What happens when you find one of your friends really irritating? hehehehehe

Anyway yeah have to go to Future Fit(previously concept 1010) ...dah bayar mahal mahal tak pi. So they called and called and nasib baik tak datang rumah I ambik I je..heheheh

Ok bye ye...

the weekend

This weekend we all jadi supir.

Firstly we missed open house invite, and 2 weddings.

And we were supposed to go to see Bad, dear friend since Uni days's baby. Dah nak masuk sebulan kot. !! teruk tol

And we were supposed to see my Nenek (Atok sedara) who is now in Sg Buloh Hospital ..he was really dear to me, when I was growing up. Mom and dad told me that during the 1969 riot they smuggled me out of the camps (dad was in the armed forces) into Nenek and Opah Mok's house (Opah Mok was my grandmother's sister) - I think I blogged once a long time ago how I was completely spoiled rotten by my OPah Mok . Her eldest daughter Kak La still talks about how Opah donated all her Mills and Boon's stuff to me when i was growing up! Cool, my Opah.

In the end , we didn't go to any of the above. We only managed one outing, which is to Mak Z (Husband's auntie)'s place - tu pun on pain of disowning us as relatives hahaha -- no lah- kidding. She didn't say that (she didn't have to!)

Why so bad ? Biasalah ...tunggu husband kerja punya pasai...He was out till 9 pm on Saturday and he was away off and on on Sunday from morning to 3 am..handling 2 hospitals must be taxing. We spoke about him leaving public service. I put to him that the people in public practice do not appreciate the fact that he's staying with them because all they see is a member of staff who is not pulling his weight. Or seen not to be. And the private one ditto thinks he is prioritising the public service as he is there daily. But he IS indeed pulling his weight and need to get that message across to the junior members. meetingslah, organisation lah, buat questions lah. I tengah boring sebab ada staff pompuan melayu hantar sms kat dia..innocent je tapi ada smiley lah, we support you lah, take care lah ..apa lah. And dia ni pun dengan selambanya reply lah...EH TAK BOLEH OK. Harus berjaga jaga weiii...mula mula kerja nanti entah apa apa..Sila elakkan sms dari perempuan melebihi 2 atau 3 kali, terimakasih. Hehehe!

Ok sharing over. Sure dia tak bagi I share ni

Ok Sunday we fetched Nadine...I sent Sara to RSPC, then went to Shah Alam, at 10.00 then turned back to get Sara at 11.30 . Tetiba si Nadine ni beritau ada debate lak...and she wanted to go see. She has been out of the debate scene for ages and she's eager to go again. Aiyoo darling. I just made a roundtrip KLShahAlamKL and I didn't really want to go to Damansara where the debate was! Thankfully her friend's dad offered a lift, and waited by the side of a BUSY road,w here I dropped her off and prayed I don't get hit by the whizzing cars- We got her at 5 pm on the way to MakZ's house. Where we stayed for about 30 minutes before going home for an hour (supposed to go send her back to SA but she wanted to go home to take more clean clothes and food etc) and the husband sent her back at about 9 ish- on the way out to the Hospital where someone was bleeding. Oh yeah I am now letting her go on trains and KTM and buses (with a friend lah) . If you know me, you know that this is an achievement!

The end of the weekend. Sophia and Daya frust sebab tak keluar mana mana. johan had tution Saturday and Sunday which the teacher never told me about but was good for him. UPSR beb!

Ok talk to you later.

Jakarta--- berhariraya with MadamTaiTaiAgain!

We had a lovely 3 day 2 night break in Jakarta visiting our dearest friends Madam tai tai again. When I heard that MdamTai Tai Again (MTTA) will be moving out into a smaller home, and that her husband said why need a big home our friends have never come anyway (or something to that effect) I immediately said LET'S GO TO JAKARTA ! Said this to the gals, no response, said this to MrsNordin and she said OK! Been talking about it for awhile ,so why not just do it right?? Other half pun sportingly said yes. so did her husband!

Booked the tickets courtesy of my cousin WorldDiscovery Travel ! Hotel - suggested by MrsN- the gloriousKempinski hotel! since I've never been to Jakarta Manalah I tau right which one is glorious which is not right but trusted her and the website looked gorgeous ! And the price tag- if tak bagus jugak tak tau lah.

Anyway could not wait to go!Never travelled with her before so pretty excited!

Airport- we picked them up from home. Did not sleep v well the night before, other half also went to  hospital. Halfway to their house, we realised we left the passport on the bed! texted her, and i can imagine the shrieking that went on there! My  house was at that time only 5 minutes away - nasib baik realised early!ALHAMDULILLAH!!!

We took the passport and swung by hers about 10 mins behind schedule. Made it to the airport  with time to spare! Phew! Bought a power bank at airport! Lama dah nak beli.

Upon checking in, we went our separate ways, agreeing to meet at the gate. This was actually a good way to travel, you know? You are together, but not in each others' faces. Had breakfast at HARRODs you! RM60 for kopi teh and scones! Mak kao!

Journey was uneventful , and I must say MAS has deteriorated, seats were cramped! Like this lah- if the people in front reclined their seats, it would decapitate my head.

Food was so so (rice with prawn or bread with curry?) and level of service has gone down. Still, I still prefer KLIA to LCCT anytime. Sat next to this lady travel agent who was sponsored by the Indonesian tourism to go there all expenses paid. SOME PEOPLE have all the luck hahahaha!

Arrived, a bit of confusion at the line for immigration. Not sure if we were foreigners who needed visa, or not? or were we foreigners? And no clear counters. Pelik tol. it was as if, the airport was surprised with our arrival and was ill prepared. hehhe. Finally we got our bags (MrsN found them for us) and went out. Thankfully no smell of incense here (last time I visited Indonesia was to Bali and the smell hit me in waves!) MTTA had kindly sent her driver to pick us up. Quite far to her house but since we were being driven around, boleh look out and enjoy the scenery lah.

The long travel though, was worth it! her house was so gorgeous. Approaching the gate, there was a guard (seriously). The gate opened and you enter into a lovely house with pillars and wooden doors. I suck at descriptive writing, must go check out Mrs N's blog for this. Ok lah let's use simple words- polished marble slabs with swirly grains, small holding room , opening up to large living room with same marble flooring,  teak furniture, unique Pakistani/Bangladeshi tables (one of which was once a door!) high ceilings, indoor plants, immaculate furnishing. throw pillows and cushions. It was really nicelah basically. Kalau rumah I , kat belakang tv ada sikat, ada vitamin bottle, ada rubber band-  kat atas meja mesti ada surat lah, cawan lah etc. Her house- spotless.

Mrs N got the guestroom facing the swimming pool. with a door that can open TO the swimming pool. We were simply dumbfounded that the hosts do not have wild pool parties every other night you know heheh. The pool was big and perfect for a nice dip on hot days.

Terus lunch- nasi padang and the accompaniments. tunjang- I loike! Otak (brain) - er!! I tried it jugak lah, after seing the other half eating it with gusto. Ok laaahhh..but like kopi luwak (fox poo covered coffee) I can't bring self to eat lah otak. Anyway dah makan, taken to the room . MTTA graciously gave her daughters' room upstairs facing the lawn to us. Equally spotless and immaculate. !

I had to send an email so I set up my laptop in the room. MasyaAllah, I had left the cable of the laptop. Before my husband could rejoice though, I remembered that the power bank powers up the laptop toO! Which was how I ended up charging my laptop.

After a little bit of rest, we ladies went to massage. Martha Tilaar ok! Bila lagi?? hehehe... I went for the boobs massage as well hey what the heck . go for it! they used Minyak KURA-KURA!!! Ayoo..! It was nice, and try as I might I could not sleep. Anyway I don't sleep  during massages normally. Normally I would be going - ah not so hard! or something like that.

After that we went for dinner. While we were pampering self , the men were shopping. Our host, Mr Tai Tai, was ill actually with DENGUE! but he put on a brave face and was charming throughout our stay. Rupanye dia demam and felt unwell.

The nice thing was it rained that day we arrived...the first time it rained since before Ramadhan. Praises and thanks to Allah swt. And apparently the traffic was amazingly good for Jakarta.

Our dinner was at Saung Grenville- sea food!! the most memorable dish- out of many, was the KEPITING ASAP. Banana leaf  parcel opening up to a gorgeous crab covered in a conundrum of spice. We were ready for bed after that and just fell into our beds once we reached MTTA's home! Dah tua kot...hehehe..no thought of partying! I changed into my sexy night wear!  Which was= pink wooly pajamas! hehehehe

2nd day ! I went down after subuh to find MrsN making coffee. We took our coffee to the pool and chatted. Sadly I had to check my phone (DAMN You technology) .We stayed outside until called in to eat breakfast by MTTA - a delish meal of kueyteow, and fruits ! The other half came down very late, seriously getting into this holiday mood by sleeping ! We chatted and chatted quite comfortably...with them teasing me about how much I talk (because I managed to talk to the lady next to me on the plane) - heyyy nolah I am shy really. I only spoke to her because she was THIS close to me.

We went out for lunch - see, cuti should be like this...eat, sleep eat again...This time where did we go? Oh yes! We went to Hotel Borobudur! For the famous Oxtail soup! It looked like a  nice hotel, and we attacked the buffet. I think I had 2 bowls of the soup. Husband had shepherds pie. The staff called me MAKCIK. Ewwww...So old lah. But I was told that they think they should call us makcik! Thank you Upin and Ipin.

Our hosts took us around the area of Pondok Indah ..palatial homes and definitely to drool over. All long French windows...Tak sunyi ke kalau takda orang ? was what i thought. At the same time as drooling.

2nd day we stayed at Kempinski Hotel or Hotel Indonesia. Husband didn't understand why we just didn't stay the 2 nights with MTTA and family. Hey give them a break from us larh..penat oi entertain orang.

Hotel Kempinski was THE BOMB. The first international standard hotel in Jakarta. Pay through nose if you dont book through Agoda (which I did) . We stayed in and tinkered with the room as we do when we checked in=-check out closets, drawers ..we are so jakun like that. Our friends went out to Grand Indonesia mall. At 7 we met for dinner------

Jap ye...i sambung sat lagi

ok , hi again.

So at 7 pm we went out....Another person in Jakarta that my husband and Mrs N were v close from their Kent days (husband was not in Kent but boleh dikatakan penghuni tetap lah)  was Verdi. Verdi ni sangat lah baik hati. He invited us for dinner at his mom's place. And offered to fetch us pulak tu.

Mrs N dah give me the heads up to dress up when we were still in KL,  so I bawak lah my kaftan jubah...seriously comfortable although made me look like I'm wearing a patterned parachute..! Husband was forced to bring a batik shirt. which was just as well cause when we went down to the lobby to wait for our friends they dressed up too! Wah so we all look proper lah. Got into the car..wooshh to Verdi's place. masuk lah jalan tikus..into all the nooks and cranny of Jakarta- a real contradiction.

MTTA and husband did not join us as they had another invitation to the Ambassador's place for Eid. We were also very kindly invited but couldn't go lar. Discovered later that they didn't go either because he fell ill and was throwing up massively. Which sent me to GUILT zone until he said it was due to a tablet he took. STILL! you should not be out entertaining us, we are ok..

Anyway dinner was good, home cooked food kan always the best. There was Asinan, like a rojak Indon, and some murtabak manis - which was actually apam balik! with susu pekat and with cheese etc. SEDAP!

Wanted to go out after dinner but then we were too sleepy! Hey!! What's this MrsN??? What happened to our karaoke etc etc?? Even going down to the hotel cafe to have a cup of coffee and latenight chat pun was too much of an ordeal ! So in the end both of us went to our respective rooms!

The next morning I got a text from MrsN to say that they were both downstairs at breakfast. Well, what she didn't know was her friend here equates hotel with room service! So we ordered in (not bad! RM50 for full plate with juice, roti, eggs etc ). I filled in the tub which took forever and ever and the other half fed me my breakfast woooooottt..(that part I didn't tell you MrsN!) , although a large part of our stay there comprised of folding clothes, ironing and a myriad of other mundane boring stuff hehehe but HEY! We were doing it in the very very luxurious room! hehehehe

About 11 we went out to Tamrin City Mall. Mak kau...so much batik on the ground floor! Telekung! baju shirt batik! Kain batik lepas! Batik tulis! I tak cukup rupiah! waaahh ...tried to go change money but then money changer was closed. Seriously guys. telekung only RM60..the same ones selling for RM200 out there.

Anyway we went back around 1 , because MTTA and her husband had come to the hotel to have lunch and see us off! So nice of them. I heard he was unwell, so didn't really expect them to come. over and beyond their duties as hosts ! Thank you!

We brought our bags down and quickly checked out. A doorman had rushed to offer to take our 2 bags for us. Mrs N and husband came down as well, and we then left for lunch. Babaiii Kempinski...nice to have stayed with you.

We had lunch at GARUDA, where they served food without being asked! You pay for what you touch je. And we had Avocado drink. Trip out was a bit nerve racking because there was such a jam, and the jam was induced by some parade marching through the streets. I fell quiet as I was scared that we might miss our 6.15pm flight! We got there at 5pm. Thank goodness we checked in on line! All we had to do was to check in baggage right..

AND THEN!! JENG JENG JENG!!

We opened the boot and I couldn't find my red bag. Eh Where's my red bag?

come to think of it, where's the other half's brown bag??

Rupanye! I had left the bags at the hotel..And the tag was with me.

I shrugged my shoulders and off we went to check in MrsN's baggages.

THEN I made calls to them.

Rupanyer they didn't give us the bags because they didn't get the tag. Husband however told me that they had actually given him the plastic bags containing gifts for our parents (babysitting fee hehe) which they had taken together with the baggage, but they did not return the bags.

I don't have any defense lah, since it's fact that I didn't give the luggage. However I think they should  have been more alert. Come on, we were the only ones checking out at the time. The bags were just 2 bags. We were at the entrance for a while, and surrounded by concierge. And they didn't check that we were checking out? They could have been more attentive lah, since they claim to be 5 6 7 8 stars with fantastic hotel standard and highest service standard right...so they could have been more attentive. Still, I should have given the tag. I was busy talking to MTTA!  Strangely, no one checked also- not the other half, not the driver . Tu lah, nak jadi kan..

MTTA quickly offered to take the bags (the husband did) and at first we took them up on the offer , so they were making arrangements for their driver to pick up. Then we thought we'd come and fly in again. But later husband and I discussed and we thought the hotel should send the bags directly. Too much hassle also to just fly back , what with the travelling to the airport etc...so we thought to ask the hotel to send back to us lah! They agreed!

We were hoping they'd pay at least half, and  I officially wrote in. I loved the hotel absolutely, and was blown away by the service, but I still thought it'd be a nice gesture if they offered to pay something since they could have been a bit more awake lah kan. wasn't impolite but rather hopeful.

And they sent an apologetic email yesterday and they said yes they'd pay! Yay!!

So that was a nice ending to a very nice weekend

And now I wish I had brought more cash ! Tamrin citimall was amayzing!

Thank you Gina and chepul for hosting us!

Thank you Mr and Mrs Nordin for  bearing with us! Chatterbox me and Laid back other half!

Must do this again!!

General Update!

OH MY GAWD!

THIS BLOG IS SOO DUSTY!! fooh fooh fooh!! (I'm chasing away cobwebs in case you don't get that he he)

Anyway what's been happening...

1. nadine

Nadine is now more settled in her college. She turned 18 last 29th August, giving me a big jolt about how old we are all getting and how fast! We picked her up from college and took her and her 3 housemates to dinner at this well known place called PICK NIK. It came highly recommended by Father of 6 Husband of KitchenGuardian- the owner was a contestant in Masterchef Malaysia and is also the hosts of some tv shows.  Our order was taken by this goodlooking kid and I asked him his name (I like taking down waiter/waitresses' names) and he said he was Nik. I said HEY! Aren't you the owner?? he said yeah. I said aren't you a celebrity? He just laughed. The kids had a ball ordering - ok I had a ball ordering-- tak HENGAT DONIA ok ...the food was good! Pandan brulee- lamb chop- chicken wings- must try ok. I didn't take any pictures , I don't anyway - Too hungry when the food comes!

We took 2 cars to dinner, and the other half sent Nadine and her friends back to Shah Alam while the rest (6  of us!) went home .  Of course we took lots of picture with the guy...he kinda expected it too , and he knew where to pose and all! hehehe!

2.noumannnnnn

Today Imma gonna have to go to ShahAlam again, to fetch Nadine and her friends ..we are all going to attend Nouman ali Khan's lecture in Wilayah mosque. yay yay! Straighten your niat, woman! You are there to listen for Allah swt's sake, and not because you are his groupie! Which I told Nadine we are . (She denies it vehemently and wishes to disassociate herself from her groupie mom) He's a fantastic speaker, originally from Pakistan but now an American, speaks from the heart and makes Islam so clear and relatable , you know? He specialises in the Quran and basically he distills the Quran into clear lessons for life. The Quran is for all, not just for Muslims, if only we utilise it right. Ok ok end of lecture hehehe- but try to listen to this guy on Youtube, he's very listenable. if there is such a word.

ANYWAY!

3. sara

Sara is doing well too, she has a firm group of friends who giggle a lot. My issue is that they seem to want to go to the mall a lot. ok 2 times is a lot to me ok. She must think Im soo strict, everytime she wants to go to the mall to watch a movie with  her frends and she asks me , we will hmm and haw...To be honest we don't want her walking around in malls. full stop. Like no work like that. wasting time. Ok ok I spent hours walking around YowChuanPlaza with Zuriati, so a biiiit of a double standard,  but I was 18 and that's a different world then.

4. johan

Johan is having his UPSR this Monday urps...and I should not worry so much, He seems to be relaxed about it. THAT's why I worry! He is too relaxed. His teacher comes to the house to hold daily tuition for BM for him and his friends and sometimes just for his friends. The lady charges me too, for it, and I don't have the guts to ask her to give me a discount - hey , she gets to use the house what...hehehe

5. sophia

Anyway yeah Sophia is now a baker  and who knows, will be KitchenGuardian 2 one day. Naaahhh I dont think so lah cause she only likes to bake and not clean how to guard kitchen like that...hehehe but she is very good with the baking thing and yesterday I believe she baked a brownie for her friend's mom. She looked horrified when we told her to charge RM60 for it. Hello sophia those ingredients ain't cheap ok! Real butter and premium chocolate you wallop from the fridge too, and daddy laaa faithfully buying you your cream cheese and your whipped cream!

It's rather insulting how everyone assume I don't cook or bake , eg when I told the husband that he was bringing apple strudel to a do he said, ok so get the girls to do . If my MIL wants to give a recipe she tells it straight to the MAID. Like this: takpalah Shila- siti can do. Why ah??? so diva ah, me.

come to think of it...Ok ok ok....im not a great cook, and  i don't bake. deal with it, right...apa nak insulting lak kan?? I AM cute , though, right?. HAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Muwal pulak ek???hehehe

6. Mr Husband

Ohh yeah , the husband had a reunion with his Oxbridge gang  a couple of weeks ago..these were the kids he went to the UK almost 30 years ago with,  Although he still sees some of  them occasionally  this was the first time in a long time that a concerted effort had been made to unite all of them. Thanks to a very active Whatsapp group , the reunion happened

The long haired boys and big haired gals (those were the 80s right) are now big kahunas in the corporate world but when they met, the years dissolved and back they went to the 1980s! The apple strudel which the other half was famous for back in the day, became a murtabak apple , due to lack of time on the surgeon's part to bake and the unwillingness of daughters to do anything not involving chocolate, or cream!

We arrived very late but stayed till about 8 and reached home by 9 pm- Which was not very nice of us , actually,  as we had mom and dad in law at home, AND we had invited sis in law and bro in law (2 families) and uncles and aunties for dinner! And MIL was left to cook by herself while we gallavanted to this reunion thingy!

7. dahlia

Dahlia..as I write this I can't think of anything to say about her..she is the most problem free child I have..cheh wah!! Only thing is she lambat nak mandi and lambat nak solat and so tied to the PC and the phone (this applies to all the children actually!)

She went to Petrosains yesterday on a field trip- she went with all the secondary 1, 2 and 4 kids which basically meant her sisters lah. I've not chatted with her for a while although mom remarked that Daya is now a big girl..she is rather quiet now that she is 13! wow..I can't think that my daya baby is 13..the grouchiest baby always wanting us to pay attention to her. If I did anything for say sophia Daya will immediately say HOWABATMEEE..(how about me?).. given that she was the 4th child, I guess this was hardly surprising! Must shout to be heard

Ok then it's almost 7 am, I have done SOD ALL and i better do some work now ok.....Jakarta trip next!

BABAIIIIII!!!

rambling- monday

Don't you hate it when someone comes during Maghrib an d then don't seem to want to go back

someone is downstairs...I served them coffee. He's talking to the other half. I need to go allready sayang --- your auntie is expecting us at her house for dinner! this would be the 3rd time we'd be missing dinner at this particular auntie's place, if we don't go tonight. the first time, before Eid, the 2nd time , over the weekend and then it's today. So better say babai to your friend quick !

Sigh...mamat tu pun tak reti ke hint..azan dah berkumandang dah tu..maybe other half is going to ask him in to pray jemaah?

On other topics, the renovated area on the side of my house is leaking . In our entire married life, we've been moving so much that renovating anything has never entered our minds . if we have extra cash, we'd travel. But since moving here we finally felt like we've put down roots, and renovating the porch on the side seemed a good idea..it's been used as an extra storeroom and was full of old stuff. now we've  put a bathroom, and turned it into a den. To save cash and preserve sunlight, I didn't wall it up, only put glass around, ala ala conservatory. Dad said that's not a room, when I told  him that his "room" is ready. heheh. Can lah dad, nanti I put tv . Other half dah call Astro dah for 2nd decoder.TV nyer takda lagi, astro dah panggil. wasteful actually, we don't watch tv at all, much less Astro- it's only for my dad when he comes, he wants to watch football.

Anyway nasib baik gak lah no tv yet, because recently it rained very heavily and flooded the den! nasib baik lah the contractor is a BNI contact, he came immediately to repair. However the problem sounds huge, ie the roof needs to be taken off and cleaned and repaired. Sigh...and all this with the maid's suggestions in the background, as if I am made of cash.

Ok then peeps , take care, will check in soon.

RAYA OH RAYA!

selamat hari raya!

This was first day, at mom's house. We spent first day with them, and 2nd day to 5th day with in laws.

Sempat lah solat dekat surau dekat rumah...first time jejak kaki there! selalu kat tempat lain kan..best gak pi surau local nih. jumpa neighbours here and there. By the time we went to mom's house orang dah nak datang. mom being the eldest had invited all her siblings over and it was really nice to see my aunties (who are like mothers to me) and cousins again. I've got one cousin who gives new meaning to the word "reticent" , she would not speak to us unless spoken to and even then one word at a time and accompanied by a very sullen face - perhaps she is shy? I am only glad that her FB page shows that she has friends, otherwise I would think she is realllly shy or aloof! Now I know she was only aloof with us! Anyway we're used to her and if she was not a dearly loved family member I would say her behaviour bordered  on the incredibly offensive :)

Sad this raya as brother no 2 went to his wife's place..but puas gaklah sebb the night before we spent time with them at mom's place. My sis in law no 2 ni very rajin...she will be whizzing here there everywhere . nasib baik lah my maid ikut at least boleh tolong mom. Me and my other sis in law??hmmm hampeh!! Tak rajin langsung!! heheheheh

We also went to visit my mom's one of very few remaining aunts and family in Selayang. Shocker there because met one of the Opah's daughters who we have never EVER met before! She had been raised by my opah's in laws and opah told us that she was forcibly taken from her breast  by her mom in law to give to her sis in law! I cannot imagine what the situation  must have been like and why she could not protest! I suppose respect for the elderly trumped all. My mom lagi lah, she also never met this cousin! Anyway yes it was really good to meet my opah and all her daughters and son (6 daughters 1 son i think) We ran out of raya packets and I had to stay in the car skulking as I put more cash in more packets! hehehehe

sat sat interlude...nadine just brought up chekodok...yummmm

Anyway where was I..first day. Malam visit husband's auntie pulak- my auntie in law masak a lot and the amazing thing was-- all alone!! very nice food and company.

The next morning we left for Johor...Raya started at the R&R because we stopped for icecream and bumped into my husband's cousin and his entire brood! Lama lah jadinyer kat R&R tu,....

We arrived home to see my 2 sis in laws (husband's sisters) ...briefly because they were on the way to their spouses' place pulak! they had been with mom in law since  before raya . House was quiet when we arrived, with sis in law's son sleeping in the living room and mom served us lunch! Just as i was washing up plates I heard Johan called me-- 15 people came! And me alone to help out! All her former students! Wahh meriahnyer.

That night pulak got Marhaban and 20 plus people came over! Marhaban is when a group of people come and chant praises to the Prophet etc ...and we fed them Mee Bandung. Ours was the 3rd house for them. Husband and son went with them to marhaban and actually husband was really enjoying himself doing Men stuff like go to the mosque all the time with dad in law. My mom's training served me well as I was able to help out in the kitchen (kat rumah sendiri malas kan)

Phew...best tol raya ni..but we didn't go visiting much...mainly received guests...ye lah we are already old...youngters come and visit us now heheheh

My girls were marvellous!! they all helped. johan also! walaupun kena suruh baru nak tolong, at least tolong right??

We stayed until Monday. On Sunday mom in law's sisters came over - and we yakked over dinner !They didn't stay the night though....we did offer to put them up tapi kena cramp sikit lar...in the end they chose to stay at RAIL HOTEL in Kluang (promo sikit ) - which we visited the next day and joined them for bfast there! Not bad lah!!

Penat jugak raya raya ni kan. On the way back we hit  a loong jam..and rupanye ada accident kat Nilai..but the accident was on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD so it didn't make sense that our side was blocked!

Hit home- and crashed on the bed!!

Raya is just beginning..more and more open houses invite...!! seronok tapi penat!!

Kan??

Selamat Hari Raya

Hi there all

selamat hari raya di ucapkan...in advance..

the ramadhan month is whizzing by..just when you are getting used to doing ibadah the way you are supposed to, wham! you have to haul yourself into commercial world and buying baju raya etc...

but! no reason not to continue trying to read the quran daily right?? you mean you already do? well done. I will try also= so much gem in there, what HAVE we been doing with it all these years, reading but not reading. We read, the way kids recite Negaraku, with no heart, no feeling , no u nderstanding.

the whole family has been hit by various ill nesses this month. I had that gadawful cold sometime back, and now the kids  have gotten stomach bugs. the other half, has been throwing up and having diarrhea...and it's strange to see the other half sick. since he's always well. The frustrating thing is , you nurse and fuss over them ,and the minute they are well, zooom off they go to work right. When they know that they would be so much better off once they REST , kan. And the minute I moan about having a headache the husband will say "don't go to worklah"

I heard also that my niece and nephew are down too. The only thing in common we had with them is the do we had at the kampung . That was AWESOME. I have an AWESOME kampung house which my late grandparents bequeathed to my only auntie (as per the Minangkabau rule which to this day I have no idea why it must be superior to the faraid laws) . It's been treated as a family home anyway and after a loooong time, one of our co usins (who had been a PA) organised this bukapuasa. ..with catering etc. And of course we arrived after buka p uasa due to er..leaving the home late .. The party was in full swing, with the smaller kids splashing in the pool (it's that cool, my kampung) and the adults ,  having done their terawih (behind my superquick uncle as Imam) , sitting and chatting by the table of durian.. Me and my girl cousins exchanging womanly tips and stories about the kids. The Tweens yakking and looking at their handphones. (sigh what to do., it's that generation)  A couple of my cousins came with men who we knew were not their husbands (apparently they got divorced quietly!) and sad to say I didn't have the guts to go introduce self and also they didn't introduce their new beau to us either. Food was kambing golek, and nasi briani.. It was great !

BUT! coming back after that everyone got ill...so ...related or not??

OR ! could it be the experience of going to Ampang Park Sunday at 3 pm - yeah madness. Absolutely mad. You cannot move . It was that crowded. And I saw KJ and Nuri and family. And they were also looking harrassed ha ha. And my 4 girls are soo hard to buy for. Ok my no 4 specifically. She is sooo fussy. She didnt find anything she liked. So dah lah, let's go back or to somewhere else. My no 1 said she has too many clothes and we should really donate clothes to others. Alhamdulillah. Still does not resolve the issue of no 4.

The office front pulak- what the heck?? While I love the rezeki that has come our way, I have suddenly been getting 3 times the work I would get in an entire month, all in the last week! they dont want me to raya or what..heheheh

ok ok dah lah i got to start getting ready for work..bye and have a good raya..

And I BEG YOUR FORGIVENESS IF ANY OF MY POSTING HAVE HURT OR OFFENDED YOU....THIS WAS ENTIRELY UNINTENTIONAL AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT....

SELAMAT HARI RAYA !

Winter Sonata sure is different at 49 years old!

Believe it or not I am rewatching Winter Sonata.. ee geram betul I dengan si Yujin tu lah... she really was a wutz wasn't she? and...
